About the Weekend Diet


Good HousekeepingThe Weekend Diet plan, from Good Housekeeping, uses just these 2 days of the week and a 1,200 calorie-per-day meal plan to jump start your healthy eating and increase activity to feel better by Monday. Research shows that most people eat more and exercise less on the weekends, thus leading to as much as a nine-pound weight gain in the course of a year. Making each weekend a spa-like experience will help drop the pounds.

Choose one item from their planned recipes and also include a 50-calorie snack.

      • 1 Ak-Mak Stone Ground Sesame cracker with 1 Tbsp. mashed avocado OR 2 plain Ak-Mak crackers

      • 1 Tbsp. soft herbed goat cheese with 1 stalk celery
      • 10 baby carrots with 2 Tbsp. salsa for dipping
      • 20 thin pretzels with 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard for dipping
    • SWEET
      • 10 mini Miss Meringue chocolate or vanilla cookies
      • 7 strawberries with 2 Tbsp. Cool Whip for dipping
      • 1 Breyers All Natural Pure Fruit Bar
      • 14 frozen grapes
      • 3/4 cup fresh raspberries
    • SIPS
      • Blender Cappuccino
      • Herbal Tea Cooler
Increase your level of activity over the weekend. Some suggested mini-workouts include biking, tightening your tush, jogging for focus and mixing it up while walking. Some suggestions are a sugar and olive oil scrub in the bath to release tension, hand massage, a salt and shampoo scalp massage or a foot soak followed by lotion and booties.
