Dr. BeckermanThe Flex Diet, created by Dr. James Beckerman, shows you 200 ways to lose one pound rather than outlining a strict program to follow in order to lose twenty pounds. The diet's tagline is "Small changes yield big results." With this approach you can customize a plan that fits your own taste and lifestyle. The Flex Diet is outlined in three phases:
  • TODAY - small changes made over a two week period with the goal of losing 5 pounds. This could be something as simple as getting more sleep, taking a multivitamin or keeping a food journal. Other ideas include finding a weight loss buddy or joining a support group.

  • EVERY DAY - lose 10 more pounds over the next three weeks by following meal plans, adding exercise and lifestyle changes. Some of the suggestions include avoiding buffet restaurants, subsituting beans, tofu or fish once a week and not finishing your child's dinner.

  • YOUR WAY - the final phase offers more lifestyle changes that can be incorporated into a lifetime of healthy eating and living. Some of the ideas include eating only until you are 80% full, portion control by ordering a kid's meal or dining on unappetizing blue plates.
