Dukan Diet
About the Dukan Diet
The Dukan Diet, developed by Dr. Pierre Dukan, has been popular in France for years. It is based on high-protein, low-fat meals, similar to the Atkins plan, but adds very large amounts of water and oat bran.
The diet is based on a 100+ allowed foods list, as well as four specific ground pillars also known as phases.
- Attack Phase (2-7 days - The dieter is allowed to eat as much as he or she wants of 72 protein-rich foods.)
- Cruise Phase (eating protein-rich foods with the addition of 28 specific vegetables)
- Consolidation Phase (fruit, bread, cheese and starchy foods are reintroduced into a normal diet five days a week leaving two days for celebratory meals)
- Stabilisation Phase (the dieter can basically eat what he or she wants without gaining weight by following a few rules, including a protein day once a week as well as eating oat bran a couple of times a week) Source: Wikipedia
