DIET TIPS
A good written diet plan is essential. There will be days when you DON'T follow your plan, however, FORGIVE YOURSELF and move on to the next day.

Darcy's Success Story

Darcy's big smile after NS
I have had several ups and down with my weight in my life. When I was in grade school, I always felt fatter than other girls my age. Looking back, it really was not that bad, but even the tiniest of differences stand out when you're that age. When I got into junior high, my weight continued to escalate so I decided to do something about it. I followed a teen diet plan where I cut back to 1500 calories a day and exercised for an hour a day just about every day of the week. Well, that worked great for me for awhile. I got down to 119 pounds and looked and felt great. However, one Christmas I let myself go and started packing on the pounds again.

When I turned 16, I got a job working at a fast food restaurant and my weight really started to skyrocket. I think I weighed about 220 pounds when I graduated high school. It got even worse when I went to college. I have always been a stress eater, and the extra stress of college really took its toll. I knew I had gained weight but really had no idea how bad it had gotten until I stepped on a scale at my dad's house. His scale had a 300-pound limit, and as I saw the needle spinning past that and back to 0, I almost had a heart attack! I thought there must be something wrong with the scale, so when I got home I bought a newer, more accurate scale. When I got on that, I weighed in at a whopping 311 pounds!

This scared me so much I went on a crash diet of 750 calories per day. I figured if I lost weight before on 1500 calories a day, I ought to lose twice as fast with half that, right? Well, I did manage to lose 50 pounds in just a few months, but I also lost my gallbladder. I had to have emergency surgery because I had developed hundreds of gallstones, a consequence of rapid weight loss. Furthermore, I was at a near complete lack of energy, my hair was falling out, and I was itchy all the time. This again scared me, so I started eating normally again and packed back on 25 pounds.

Darcy before NutriSystem

That is when I decided to turn to NutriSystem for help. Since joining NutriSystem, I am eating healthier than I ever have, and I am feeling better than I ever have! I have lost over 105 pounds on NutriSystem, bring my total weight loss to over 130 pounds. I still have 40 more pounds to go before I reach goal. However, with everything I have learned and with all the amazing people I have met on NS that are here to support me, I know I will make goal, and I know they will continue to support me once I start the grueling task of maintenance as well.

Thanks,
Darcy (carmenbee)
