Dr. Peter D'AdamoThe Blood Type Diet was created by Peter D'Adamo and described in his book Eat Right 4 Your Type. This naturopathic physician claims there are distinct diets according to blood types of O, A, B, and AB. In addition to weight loss, improvements in digestive function, resistance to stress, overall energy and mental clarity were also reported by a majority of the dieters.

D'Adamo's unique dietary recommendations for the blood types are:
  • Blood Group O - described as the hunter and recommends higher protein diet.
  • Blood Group A - described as the cultivator and recommends a diet emphasizing vegetables and free of red meat
  • Blood Group B - described as the nomad with strong immune and digestive systems. This is the only blood type that can thrive on dairy products.
  • Blood group AB - described as the enigma and dietary needs are an intermediate between types A and B.
